Melted Crayon Art!

I'm pretty much obbessed with how this one turned out!
I mean, I loved the elephant too, but after it messed up the first time, well, this one pretty much won my heart. Obviously it's all the same steps as the elephant, but instead of drawing an elephant, I had to buy these flowers at Micheals.. They were the most realistic looking ones that I could find, and I LOVED them! and the BEST part was, my sister, who i was a little concerned that she might not like it that much.. They're very different, I knew that my sister that got the elephant would love it, but to be quite honest, I was terrified to give this one. BUT she LOVED it and went on about how awesome it was! I was *SO* excited!
So, anyone is looking for a relatively fun, easy idea to give someone, especially teachers and stuff (which of course neither of my sisters are.. I just thought they were cool) I would highly recommend this whole melted crayon art! (:

Happy Day after Boxing Day!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I sure did, I love having all of my family together!

So since I did an all handmade Christmas (except for my boyfriend because that would have been IMPOSSIBLE) so I did a lot of searching on Pinterest.

This is what I made my sister, it, of course, is pinterest inspired, with a little twist.

My sister is obsessed with elephants, so I had seen this on pinterest with a girl holding an umbrella, which i also thought was really cute, and I was planning on doing, but one day I was driving home and it hit me, She loves elephants! I wasn't quite sure what to do with the idea, because rainging on elephants is kind of random, so I told my mom and boyfriend and asked for ideas. My mom had a really good one... in theory, she said that we could kind of funnel the drippings down to the elephants trunk and make it look like it was sprouting from the trunk. So I went out and bought two 96 packs of crayons and sorted out all of the blues. Then I got some foam board (which I am now obsessed with and will use for EVERYTHING) and a stencil of an elephant. I put the elephant on and let me tell you, I was pretty proud of that thing, it was shiny and black, it almost looked like it was a sticker, and I am certainly no artist, so I never even dreamed that it would look as good as it did, anyways, so then I glued on all of my blues, in random order. and then, we put some painters tape from the trunk to the end of the board and my boyfriend, being the great guy he is, held some rulers on the tape to make sure we caught anything that was trying to go past the tape. Then I started the blow dryer, I really don't understand how the air comes out of that blow dryer because I could NOT for the life of me control where my drips were going. anyway, we got it all done, took of the rulers and tape and looked. It was a PURE disaster, I was so upset, because it was so ugly. We rushed out to a local like cheapo store, hoping to get more crayons for about the same price we got them at wal-mart. we got there, and it was more expensive to get a sixty four pack there than it was at wal-mart. and A) I am seriously cheap, and hate to spend my money and B) homemade presents are NOT that much cheaper, so the cash flow was running low. So we went back home and I just redrew my elephant, planning to go to wal-mart the next day. Of course, my elephant looked not nearly as good, but I just had to deal with it. We got the crayons and retried, this time just letting it rain on the elephant, which is what you see up there. So much better, and my sister was THRILLED!

So that's it for now, my mom and I are rushing out to get the last of the cheap ribbon and wrapping paper for next year, it's really fun to make the presents pretty!

I hope everyone has a great day!(:

Quote Books

Happy Christmas Eve everyone!

Okay, I know for sure that I can post this one, because my friends are all baddd and already opened their presents. This was another idea that I found on pinterest.. I made three, but I forgot to take a picture of the other one before I gave it away. They're litte "books" with silly and sweet quotes and sayings in them, mostly about friendship, although the one not pictured had a whole page about mustaches.. for some reason that friend is obsessed with them. Anywho, I went and bought some cardstock, like in November planning to do them, and actually started working on them on like.. Monday.. can you say procrastination?
Continuing, then I looked up different quotes and sayings.. That was actually the hardest part for me, because I didn't want them to be too sappy, but I didn't want them to be totally stupid either, so after two or three days of searching, I had found enough. Then I download some AWESOME fonts on my computer, put the sayings in different fonts, and printed them out on my pretty cardstock. I hole punched them, tied some ribbon and added stickers (although I started running out of the same ones towards the end:()I'm pretty excited to say that they turned out like ten times better than I thought they would, and so far, my friends have LOVED them!

So Merry Christmas everyone! Have a great day and enjoy it with family and friends!
And don't forget the real reason for the season!(:

I just couldn't wait!

Okay,  I know I said that I didn't want to give away my presents.. but I'm just so excited about them all that I HAVE to share one today. I made this one for a family friend, she's basically like my second mom. I bought this blanket one day when it was on sale in Hobby Lobby, and I have literally had it for years. I finally finished it, and let me tell you, it took a lot of work and a lot of love. Once I finished the actual cross stitching, I had to do all of the details. Once I had finished all of that, I had to wash it, and back it, and I think that the backing is BY FAR the MOST tedious part of the whole blanket. But, now she won't be able to see all of the ugly back of my stitching, so I guess it's worth the effort, and the fact that I know that she would do anything for me, definitely makes it worth it!

Oh! and I just wanted to share something else, the other day, my mom and I saw that one of our friends at church and her mom had gotten their coffee paid for by the person in front of them, so when we went to starbucks, mom and I decided to do the same for someone behind us. It was a little girl that was behind us, and she was SO excited! and the barista seemed really impressed and wished us a blessed Christmas. And since the barista was so nice to us, my mom decided to get her a present too, and when we gave it to her this afternoon, she was on the verge of tears. I love Christmas and spreading the real Christmas spirit!

Getting Started

I'm so excited! I've been doing all homemade Christmas presents, and I'm DYING to share them with the world! But first I guess you should know some things about me. I'm eighteen and ready to get out of this tiny little school and start the rest of my life. I am planning to be a kindergarten teacher, and I'm SUPER excited for that plan. I have a great family whom I love very much. I also have great friends and a fabulous boyfriend. I love God and my whole church famliy. I am pretty sure that if I didn't have a boyfriend, I would grow up and be a serious cat lady... actually... I'm probably still going to grow up and be a cat lady, my boyfriend will just have to deal with it(: I love to make stuff and I'm basically addicted to pinterest and it's great ideas! This is probably going to be mostly my favorite creations, with the occasional rant thrown in there.. So I will soon start putting my favorite things that I'm giving as presents this year, but i should probably wait till my presents have been given so I don't spill the beans all by myself. So that's it for now.
